Alex DePaoli, B.S.

Therapeutic Facilitator, Marketing Coordinator

Alex received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a concentration in clinical psychology and a minor in art therapy in the spring of 2025. She plans to attend a Master’s program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling to continue to provide individualized, empathetic, and evidence-based treatments that emphasize childrens’ and teens’ dignity and individuality.

As an undergraduate, Alex interned at SEC for two semesters and worked with SEC campers at Camp Kef for two summers. In 2025, Alex became a co-facilitator of the younger Camp Kef group, where she supported nine clients’ therapeutic journeys by providing behavioral interventions and aiding in the design and delivery of educational therapeutic concepts. Now, Alex has graduated to the role of Lead Therapist of the younger Camp Kef group, providing oversight and supervision of co-facilitators and 1:1s. Alex joined SEC’s full-time staff as a Therapeutic Facilitator in the summer of 2025.

Prior to her time at SEC, Alex accrued three years of experience as a Behavior Technician at the Kinney Center for Autism Education and Support, working as a 1:1 for four clients and leading a Transitional and Adult Skills class. Additionally, Alex served as a Peer Mentor for students with intellectual disabilities through Saint Joseph’s University’s PACE (Pathways to Authentic College Experiences) program.

Alex is also passionate about research and has worked as a Research Assistant at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, contributing to two NIH-funded studies exploring school-based aggression in elementary students. Alex used the skill she developed in this role to research, design, and interpret an original research project aimed to identify the causes of specific biases against those on the autism spectrum. She has presented her original thesis “Predictors of Dehumanization in Autism Spectrum Disorder,” at the Eastern Psychological Association’s annual conference in May 2025. She hopes to combine her research and her clinical work to promote independence and autonomy for children and adolescents.

Alex has worked with people from 3 to 35 with a variety of needs, and it is important to her to utilize each client’s unique strengths to implement strategies that best fit their goals. She strives to go the extra mile for her clients and provide handmade concepts and materials that are fun, engaging, and personalized. Her goal is to provide an open, welcoming environment where clients feel both supported and challenged to grow.

Outside of SEC, Alex loves to paint, garden, read, watch bad movies, and attend concerts.
