Shea O’Brien, MSW

Social Worker

Shea graduated from Neumann University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and recently graduated from Bryn Mawr Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research with a master’s degree in social work. She is in pursuit of gaining licensure in clinical social work. During her time in undergraduate, Shea interned at a private practice for co-parenting and family therapy services that were under Delaware County Court supervision. Shea worked with families and children K-12 many of which had different backgrounds and diverse situations. In her time pursuing her master of social work, she also worked with children in a school setting as part of a social services team. In the school's social service office, she gained experience working with children elementary to middle school age with various neurodiverse needs. In the social service office, Shea facilitated individual and group therapy.

Shea began interning at SEC first as an undergraduate in 2021 and returned as an graduate intern in 2023. Shea loves working with children of all ages, especially elementary to middle school age. She uses her previous experiences working with children at SEC, private practice, and school social services to help clients build the skills and strengths they need to gain the strength and psychoeducation they need to better understand themselves as a person.

Shea was hired as a staff member in May 2024 and currently leads small group social skills sessions and collaboratively provides social support under professional supervision. Outside of her work at SEC, Shea loves working with animals, takes interest in plants, trying different foods, and enjoying nature.
